Form can be submitted multiple times

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but I have a problem that I'd like some help with if possible. We have a web based application which runs on IIS which allows our internal users to make requests via a web form. Unfortunately, when people click on the Submit button of the web form, which inserts a record into a SQL database, the web page takes a while to respond. Inevitably, the user will be impatient and click on the button a few more times and this results in multiple entries into the SQL database, which is undesirable. The support staff for the company that wrote the application have been less than helpful, essentially saying to "tell people to only click the button once", but I wondered if there was a way in the IIS config to make the user's web session wait and not allow the form to be submitted multiple times. Any help would be gratefully received!
