I am fairly new to exchange server set ups. We are currently running ii6 on sbs 2011 with exchange 2010 and RWA. The previous It person never set up exchange correctly. The domain server is set up as .local server as well. Hosting domain externally. 

Currently it has been set up with a single DNS -remote.domain.com that hosts RWA and exchange. None of the actual OWA etc have been set up correctly and is mainly used internally. We wanted to move away from this so i set up DNS records for autodiscover and webmail. I created got a CA certificate for the webmail but exchange just auto signed the autodiscover one. However when I went to move the IIS (for owa etc), imap, pop and smtp to the new certificate in exchange the RWA site now comes up with a certificate error (it has started using the webmail one) and none of the RDP word from RWA. RWA uses remote.domain.com and we wanted to change the MX, owa etc all to webmail.domain.com. So further investigation I went to the remote desktop gateway and found changing the IIS in exchange to the webmail cert changed it on the gateway as well. So I had to revert that back and now if you go to webmail.domain.com it has an ssl cert error and is using the remote.domain.com certificate. 

We want to use the remote.domain.com for RDP access and shared folders etc and use the correct OWA for webmail.domain.com.

Is there anyway around this?

We have a windows 2008 R2 server (Standard Edition) that does not have HTTP Activation enabled. However, if we install a WCF SVC we can browse to it.

We have found that…

• When SERVICE PACK1 is installed we can browse services in IIS even though HTTP activation is NOT enabled
• In RTM we cannot browse services in IIS when HTTP activation is NOT enabled; we can ONLY browse the services when HTTP activation IS enabled

Using SeverManagerCmd (ServerManagerCmd.exe -q> C:\Logs\IIS.log) I was able to report that WAS reported as being enabled (The following PowerShell script produced the same results as the ServerManagerCmdImport-module servermanager ; Get-WindowsFeature | where-object {$_.Installed -eq $True} | format-list DisplayName)

  i.e

[X] Windows Process Activation Service  [WAS]

    [X] Process Model  [WAS-Process-Model]

    [X] .NET Environment  [WAS-NET-Environment]

    [X] Configuration APIs  [WAS-Config-APIs]

So I disabled it and yet again I am still able to browse the SVC.

I know that R2 comes with 3.5.1 pre-installed however as confirmed HTTP ACTIVATION is not enabled.

The release notes for SP1 mention nothing of issues fixed IIS (they mention very little actually)

Tested on 2012 and cannot browse without HTTP ACTIVATION enabled

Is anyone aware of anything else that would permit browsing of the SVC?

I was testing permissions with AD accounts and IIS Manager users and I get the same error.

machine/webroot/apphost/SITENAME cannot read configuration file due to insufficient permissions.

do I need to assign ntfs permissions? say I was allowing someone to just read the default documents settings under IIS.

Can anyone provide a valid method for implementing a CTL on IIS 8.5 that doesn't require me to stand up a server that is EOL?

Scouring the interwebs keeps pointing me to posts that reference a tool from the Windows 2003 SDK that only runs on Windows 2003 or 2008 (nonR2).  There must be an updated method.

I've tried to install PHP 5.5.30 and this seems to install fine, but WPI is unable to install "Microsoft Drivers 3.2 for PHP v5.4 for SQL Server in IIS".

.NET 3.5 and 4.5 are installed on the server already if this matters.

after installation in Option I have set up incorrect default path (I should have put it into 'additional scenarios'). Now while trying to open Web platform installer I am getting error: Cannot find product with identifier DefaultDocument

Please find below the log. Reinstallation does not fix the problem. Do you have any suggestions?

Help....

 I have an IIS 6.0 PHP 5.3.6 with FastCGI running with a Drupal installation that wont allow for file uploads.  I don't want to use C:\WINDOWS\TEMP as the default directory for uploads.  So, I created a C:\TMP directory for PHP to write to.  However, when I make the change to the upload_tmp_dir to be C:\TMP and then restart IIS. PHPINFO shows as C:\WINDOWS\TEMP as still being the upload directory. Is it because of FastCGI? I would keep C:\WINDOWS\TEMP as the default but it doesnt like me changing the persmissions for the IUSR_X-X guest account to be able to write to it....Freezes up when I try to add permission.  Any insight would be great cause I am at wits end on this one.

Hi I was wondering if there was a way to supply the physical path by a command on package import. Not worried about virtual dir's atm.

I am importing websites I have exported from a different location and we are doing a nice tidy up on paths etc.

I have a fair few sites i need to change the path for when the package gets imported, i am using powershell to do the automation and some other stuff.

So far this is what i have, its just a reverse of what i used to export

I have the script request.inf to excute in the local server with theCertreq - new command and i have to create .bat or a script,  that will be easy to run  by another team in my company who have not full right  on the server.

My question is if there is a way to run the command, or another way to do it without logged in to the server.?????

I have set up IIS 8 and a website, and bind the web site to:

- http://domain.biz             - 80 (works well)

- http://www.domain.biz    - 80 (works well)

- https://www.domain.biz   - 443 (works well)

- https://domain.biz            443 - non-www and it returns "This site can’t be reached ncms.biz refused to connect.

                                                                                           ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED"

Any suggestions are welcome. Also is it possible to redirect from non-www https to www https at least?

(we have tried to turn off Firewall, there is no antivirus, we have tried different SSL Certificates for www and non-www, and we have tried

different IP addresses )

For example, i want to update all http references to https but this should not update in any of the A HREF Links.

Hope someone can help, I have spent days on this and cannot get it to work. We have created an ASP website which connects to various SQL servers to retrieve data. The website works for all but one SQL server, which is a prehistoric MSSQL7 server running on WINNT4 (I wont bore you with history or details why this is still in use). This box is not a member of any domain, just a box setup as a workgroup machine. Our IIS server (IIS 7.5) is part of a domain.

When we try to run a query from the website to the SQL server in question, the following error appears:

Exception Details: System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: An
existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

I have tried to setup a specific login for the application pool and a corresponding user account on the SQL server, I cannot do this as the SQL server cannot pickup any users on the domain and the IIS server cannot use any user accounts setup on the SQL server.

Trying NETWORK SERVICE and LOCAL SERVICE  application pool identities don't work and account impersonation also does not work. Is there any way I can get our ASP website to connect to the SQL server so we can display queries?

I've installed ARR version 3 on a Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter.

I'm using it in azure to load balance for our web application.

It is  a simple setup, load balance based on Weighted round robin and custom distribution. A URL write rule is created automatically when I created the farm. I enabled the option [Client affinity under the server affinity pane]

I called the server farm as the name of the hosting server [test.domain.local] And add the machines to the farm in the same format.

The website is using HTTP for ex - http://test.domain.local

I get this error on a random basis and only way I manage to reproduce is to do an IISreset on the APR installed server

Web server received an invalid response while acting as a gateway or proxy server

And this issue seems to be resolved after few minutes.

Please explain what causes this issue and how can I avoid this

My problem is if i have CurrentURL as "http://localhost/old/catalog/product.html" and NewURL as "http://localhost/new/catalog/product.aspx". Its getting redirected as "http://localhost/new/catalog/product.html" (wrong file extension) and it should redirect to ""http://localhost/new/catalog/product.aspx" not "http://localhost/new/catalog/product.html"

Do i need to change anything in pattern? If so Please let me know ASAP. Since its an urgent issue.

I use IIS 7.5 run a site that i access from a ios app. This sites web.config gets data from a server on my network. The server that I am accessing runs server 2003 and the server with the iis on it is server 2008 r2. Is  there a way to optimize the connection to make is access the share derive faster. I am using the UNC in the web.config and all my permissions seem to be good.

I've always managed to find articles but in this case I wanted to post here hoping someone knowledgeable could comment.

I've been adding many websites to my IIS7 Server and when asking for the "pass-through authentication" I've been using
the machines administrator credentials. 

This is for websites that use asp.net 3.5 mostly (DNN - Dotnetnuke) websites.

I have a feeling that is the incorrect thing to do. Can anyone shed some light on the appropriate configuration for that setting?
& What risks come with using the administrator account.

I have several load balanced servers within our environment that I am attempting to implement shared configuration across to reduce user error. The issue I am running into is with bindings. Each server in a pair has a single IP with several sites and an additional binding for each site specific to that server for the purpose of testing. 

How can I maintain the server specific bindings using shared configs while only having a single IP for each server? Is this possible?

I have searched through the forum and google looking for a possible solution but have come up empty.

Environment example:

Server1:

websiteA  bindings: websiteA.com; websiteA1.com

websiteB   bindings: websiteB.com; websiteB1.com

websiteC   bindings: websiteC.com; websiteC1.com

Server2:
